Purpose: To teach handlers how to train avalanche dogs. This class will help handlers train their dogs to dig up people or articles in the snow. This class will show several methods to achieve proficient and independent alerts from their dogs.
Course Information: This class is for beginners and intermediates who would like to learn about avalanche training. This course shows how to use live subjects and articles to attain excellent alerts. We will troubleshoot all problems that arise during training. We will be showing lots of video for demonstration purposes. It will help if you are able to upload videos to show your dog working, (You will receive plenty of help to help you do this). This class is for puppies 8 weeks or older or adult dogs up to 5.

What you can expect to learn in this course:
- How to train an avalanche dog (step by step instruction).
- Avalanche terrain.
- Search strategy.
- What is expected from an avalanche team.
- How an avalanche search is conducted.
- We will teach the dog to independently search without relying on the handler to direct them.
