The Therapy Dog training courses are taught by Susan Sharpe, a certified A.P.D.T; C.C.P.D.T.;
CA-1 instructor. Susan is the co-owner and head instructor for Canine Companion by Certified Trainers. Susan is an evaluator for Therapy Dog Inc. She and her dog Skye Ladd hold duel registries with Delta Society and Therapy Dog Inc.
Therapy Dog
This course is for people who are interested in becoming a working team in the area of visitation and/or assisted activities training their own dog to become a Therapy Dog. This course will provide you with the skills necessary to train your dog to become a Therapy Dog and pass a Therapy Dog Certification Course.
Personal Assistance Dog
This course teaches you and your dog basic service behaviors and/or more advanced Therapy Dog working behaviors. You will learn to teach your dog to open and close doors and drawers; retrieve personal items such as canes, shoes and socks; advanced behaviors to assist in rehabilitation; and simply awesome "tricks" to dazzle your family, friends or patients during therapy visits.
