Treetops’ comprehensive program includes:

  • Eighteen hours of online instruction over six weeks in anatomy and physiology of canines. This provides a unique opportunity to come back to each lesson with questions, concerns and insights after completing your homework assignments.
  • Homework assignments that ensure you master the material. Students should prepare to complete 6 hours of homework each week.
  • Students must successfully complete the canine anatomy and physiology course before enrolling in the introductory canine massage course.
  • Eighteen hours of instruction over 12 weeks in the introduction to canine massage course.
  • Students must successfully complete the introduction to canine massage course before enrolling in the advanced canine massage course.
  • Fifteen hours of instruction over 10 weeks in the advanced canine massage course that develops specialized massage skills to deal with a wide variety of health issues. It also helps students prepare for opening their own clinic. 
  • Homework assignments in both of the massage courses that will ensure you master the massage skills. Students should be prepared to complete 6 hours of homework each week.
  • Small student to instructor ratio so students enjoy significant amounts of individual instruction.
  • There will be a knowledge assessment at the end of each course ensures that students have successfully completed the course requirements and have a level of training that ensures they will be safe when working on their own animals and doing the case studies.
  • Certification requirements of 40 case studies, a written exam at the end of the canine anatomy and physiology course as well as at the end of the introduction to canine massage course along with a practical exam at the end of the introductory canine massage course ensure that students offering their services to the public are knowledgeable, well trained and that services are provided in a professional and safe manner.
  • Treetops’ instructor, Sigle Skeries, has a lifetime of involvement with horses and dogs in a wide variety of disciplines. Sigle has been an animal rehabilitation specialist since 1991 and is a Licensed Massage Therapist governed by the International Therapeutic Examination Council.

General Information on Treetops
Treetops was founded in 1991 by Sigle (Sheila) Skeries as an outstanding full service equestrian centre with a special interest in equine rehabilitation. Since 1995 Treetops has focused solely on equine and canine rehabilitation while also providing exceptional educational programs in the field of complementary therapies. Treetops was the first facility in North America to provide a fully integrated rehabilitation facility providing the very best in complementary therapies and allopathic veterinary medicine in order to provide a holistic approach to animal health promotion and convalescent care. Treetops continues to be the standard by which all other animal rehabilitation facilities and educational programs aspire. In fact many of today’s animal rehabilitation specialists took their training and began their careers at Treetops. Treetops has been featured in Equus, Practical Horseman, Horse Sport, Horse Care, Horse Illustrated, Dogs Dogs Dogs, Dogs in Canada, The Globe and Mail, The Toronto Star, The New VR Television and City TV’s Breakfast Television. About Treetops’ Founder

Sigle (Sheila) Skeries has an Honours Bachelor of Arts in educational psychology with 20 years teaching experience and over 30 years experience in the animal industry. A successful junior career on the hunter / jumper circuit in Ontario and throughout the USA followed by upper level Eventing training in England, qualification as a British Horse Society Intermediate Instructor, and the management of equine facilities in breeding, racing, training and showing ensures a well rounded and knowledgeable approach not only to rehabilitation but the specific needs and demands of a wide variety of disciplines. Sigle’s canine partners are St. John Ambulance Therapy Dogs and they participate in a number of canine activities including tracking, agility, freestyle and trick training. Her qualifications in therapeutic massage have been secured through training at The Complementary Therapies School in Gerrards Cross, England and successful completion of the ITEC licensing examinations. She is a member of the British Complementary Medicine Association, Independent Professional Therapists International and the Guild of Complementary Practitioners. Sigle has successfully completed her training in Herbal Medicine through the East West School of Herbal Medicine based in Ben Lamond, California. Sigle is the President of the Canine Animal Massage and Bodyworker Association. She is also a member of the Canadian Network for Innovation in Education.

This is NOT an easy or quick program. This is a structured and comprehensive program resulting in YOU becoming a qualified expert Certified Canine Massotherapist, recognized by world-wide associations.

90 minutes for 10 weeks.

Canine Case Study Submissions
Course Duration: Students must
submit 4 documented massages
on 10 different dogs.
