PT201: Methods of Training

This course provides students with a comprehensive understanding of the various methods of dog training used by trainers today. Emphasis will be placed on demonstrating the correct (humane) applications of aversion, positive reinforcement and positive punishment, negative reinforcement and negative punishment. It is important that a scholar of dog training be aware of the various methods available so the student can correctly determine when they are or are not using the method they think they are using.

2. Choose between:
For Credit-You will participate fully in
the class with required homework and tests.
You will send in video homework to learn
"hands on" with the instructor examining and providing individualized feedback, attention and assistance on course material.

Audited-You will participate fully in
the class with no required homework or tests.
The instructor will not provide any assistance
out of class such as viewing your videos in
order to be able to give you individualized
feedback.

NOTE: We will be providing Certification for Professional Dog Trainers in the near future (planned for FALL of 2008). This course is worth 3 credits and can be applied to Certifcation once we are approved by the Colorado Department of Higher Education. Only the "For Credit" courses can be applied to Certification.
