DB202: Advanced Dog Training
Prerequisites: Dogs I or Puppy II and (highly recommended) Positive Techniques Training Kit (see below) course supplies from either class.
Course cost and length:
Live: $225.00 6 live sessions
Recorded: $225.00
Recommended Text: CULTURE CLASH by Jean Donaldson
Purpose: Expand on behaviors learned in a previous positive reinforcement training course to result in keeping skills fresh and the experience positive so your dog maintains and strengthens its trusting relationship with
you and your family.
What you can expect to learn from this Course:
- Longer and more reliable sit- and down-stays
- Dog will learn to focus onits owner despite intense distractions.
- Changing specific behaviors suggested by you and classmates during the course.
Course Info: This class follows Dog I or Puppy II. The dog will gain much more self-control and confidence by working through a variety of distractions, thereby strengthening behaviors he has already learned. He will learn to focus on his owner even when food (or a favorite toy!) is on the floor beside him and then "leave it" to follow the owner when asked. He will practice proper greeting behavior under a variety of circumstances, longer sit-and down-stays, and he will continue to succeed in reliably recalling even when the environment beckons elsewhere. Owners help shape this course by suggesting behaviors they would like to work on during this course.
NOTE: There is an additional $105.00 cost for a Positive Techniques Training Kit that is highly recommended for this course. The proper tools are essential for the proper results. This cost is way below what you would pay retail. If you have previously taken a course in the Positive Reinforcement Series, you will NOT need to buy the whole Kit again. You will, however, need to order the DOGS II Instruction Manual ($20). The Kit includes the following training tools to be shipped to you after you register:
- 2-clickers
- 1-training lead
- 1-harness
- 1-limited slip collar
- 1-stuffable food toy
- 1-DOGS I Instruction Manual
Cost includes sales tax, shipping and handling. You will recieve instructions on how to order this under "Course Materials" when you register. You will be expected to have the materials by the second session. If you are taking the Recorded Sessions, order now, click HERE to order and specify the class you are taking, and where you want the materials sent.
