DB204: Advanced Canine Body Language
This course enables students to develop a comprehensive understanding of what dogs are telling us by the use of various expressions, postures and actions dogs exhibit. Emphasis will be on the recognition of these signs and what they mean. Students who complete this course will have a working knowledge of canine body language so they will be better able to meet the training and behavioral needs of their canine clients.

Course Length: This course meets once a week for 4 weeks. Each class is 60 minutes. All times are EST.

Instructor: Connie Dwyer, M.S., CPDT, CABC holds her Masters degree in Systems Science from Binghamton University. Here she began her work studying learning theory and the behavior of systems, designing simulation systems to be used in scientific research. This study of behavior, along with her love and respect for animals, motivated her to apply this knowledge to her interes
t in animal behavior and discover ways to enhance human – animal communication systems. She spent the next 10 years attending animal behavior seminars and clinics, conducting research, and enhancing her skills while working under some of the countries top trainers and animal behavior specialists.
As a result, Connie earned recognition from two of the countries most respected organizations. She is a Certified Pet Dog Trainer (CPDT) as well as a Certified Animal Behavior Consultant (CABC) through the International Association of Animal Behavior Consultants (IAABC). She is the Co-Chair for the IAABC Horse division as well as a member of the IAABC board of directors. She is a published author and the director of training for her own animal training and behavior consulting business.
Connie teaches puppy, dog and horse training classes to assist owners in developing the bond with their pet. She also volunteers with 4H organizations in upstate N.Y. and has implemented and grown the positive reinforcement dog training program for the Cornell University Cooperative Extension in Binghamton, N.Y. Over the last 10 years in these programs and classes, she has enjoyed helping thousands of people and their pets in the community form lasting and nurturing relationships.
Connie resides in beautiful Upstate NY with her wonderfully supportive husband Jim, two children and assistant trainers Christina and Nikki, totally clicker trained dog Coconut, barn cats Lola and Chaps and two “cross-over” horses and teachers extraordinaire, Cookie and Jessie.
