DB202: Advanced Dog Training

Purpose: Expand on behaviors learned in a previous positive reinforcement training course to result in keeping skills fresh and the experience positive so your dog maintains and strengthens its trusting relationship with you and your family. (Available May 1, 2008)

Course Info: This class follows Dog I or Puppy II. The dog will gain much more self-control and confidence by working through a variety of distractions, thereby strengthening behaviors he has already learned. He will learn to focus on his owner even when food (or a favorite toy!) is on the floor beside him and then "leave it" to follow the owner when asked. He will practice proper greeting behavior under a variety of circumstances, longer sit-and down-stays, and he will continue to succeed in reliably recalling even when the environment beckons elsewhere. Owners help shape this course by suggesting behaviors they would like to work on during this course.

Prerequisites: Dogs I or Puppy II and Positive Techniques Training Kit (see below) course supplies from either class. (highly recommended)

Length: This course meets once a week for 6 weeks. Each class is 60 minutes. All times are CST.

Course Length: 6 one-hour sessions

Course Cost (Register above):
For Credit: Live and OnDemand=$225
Audited: Live=$150; OnDemand=$120

Credits: 3*
(*Applies toward certificate programs for students registered in the PDT or PCTS programs. You do not have to be in a certificate program to take this class.)
