
There are three courses offered by E-Training for Dogs to learn how to properly perform canine massage. You can take these courses for your own personal knowledge and to benefit your own dogs. To become Certified, you will additionally need to provide the 40 Case Studies to Treetops, who is qualified to Certify you. There is NO extra charge for the Case Study submissions or Certification.
Here are the requirements that will teach you safe and comprehensive canine massage:
- Successfully complete the anatomy and physiology course offered by Treetops through E-Training For Dogs, which includes being present for at least 75% of the classes, completing all homework assignments and obtaining a minimum mark of 75% on the examination.
- Successfully complete the introductory canine massage course offered by Treetops through E-Training For Dogs, which includes being present for at least 75% of the classes, completing all homework assignments and obtaining a minimum mark of 75% on the examination.
- Successfully complete the advanced canine massage course offered by Treetops through E-Training For Dogs, which includes being present for at least 75% of the classes and completing all homework assignments. There is no examination requirement in the advanced canine massage course.
- Certification through Treetops: Completion of at least four (4) massages on ten (10) different canines for a total of forty (40) massages within twenty-four (24) months of successfully completing the canine massage course. (NO charge for the Certification.)
Certification is through Treetops in Canada, NOT through E-Training for Dogs, Inc. Only those individuals who have successfully completed the certification criteria (Case Studies) will receive the designation of Certified Canine Massotherapist (CCM) awarded through Treetop's Certified program.
THE ANATOMY AND PHYSIOLOGY AND CANINE MASSAGE EXAMS
The anatomy and physiology exam will be closed book and will consist of 30 multiple choice questions, 4 short answer questions worth 5 points each and two essay questions worth 25 points each. The exam will be compiled from all the course materials including diagrams.
There will be a written exam at the end of the course comprising 50 multiple choice quetions related to the theory of canine massage as well as a practical exam where students will demonstrate all the massage strokes by completing a massage on one full side of the dog. During the practical exam students will also be asked questions related to massage theory and anatomy that will need to be answered orally. Students will be tested individually. Your exam time will be allotted to you two weeks prior to the final exam day. The practical exam will last 30 minutes.
